Artists 303 News
Ann has an Exhibition with three other Somerset “Printmakers” from the 9th February - 7th May, at the John Leach Gallery in Muchelney, Nr Langport.
Inspired by 15 years of passion for ice, glaciers and the effects of global warming in Antarctica and on Innuit communities in the Arctic, Sandra has recently ( 5 January - 9 February 2019 ) held a solo exhibition at ACEarts in Somerton, presenting her sketchbooks, drawings, paintings, stitched textiles and photography. She has also led two Creative sketchbook workshops alongside the exhibition.
We held a Workshop on Monday the 8th of October, at the Hurstbarton Studios in Martock. We enjoyed a very productive day and those of us who took part, hope that Artists 303 can meet and work again at the same venue.
It gave us a chance to get to know each other better, to discuss our working practices and to develop ideas for the future.
A big thank you goes to Ann who organised the time and place for us and brought tea coffee and biscuits for sustenance!
A good day in a great space.
Jill Dunmore exhibited her clay and stone sculptures in her studio in Wells.
She works “mainly from life in a naturalistic way. Recently she has been experimenting with abstraction in order to express organic forms”.
Ann Fagan exhibited her recent work with Liz Biesty who are both inspired by “natural forms, landscape colour and pattern”.
Their work included limited edition prints, handmade books and cards using a variety of traditional printmaking techniques, including linocut, etching, monoprint and drypoint.
Kate Cochrane, who exhibited recently during SAW Open Studios 2018.
Kate exhibited at "The Studio, Batcombe Lodge"
Kate's work showed her vibrant use of colour through "textured mediums, palette knife and brush work" and her recent interest has been painting ruined castles.
Beryl Fraenkel and Judy Hall exhibited at SAW as the "Silk House Artists" in Castle Cary.
Beryl Fraenkel's abstract work of "balanced shapes, with deep vibrant colours and light"
Judy Hall in front of her abstract paintings which show her interest in "texture and design" and the play of colour and shape.

“My clay and stone sculptures are mainly naturalist, figurative, often informed by life drawing classes and my own life experiences.
I have shown and sold my sculpture over the past twelve years on the North Bristol Arts Trail and then, for the past three years, on the BS9 Arts Trail."
“Above all I work in colour often saturated and teased out of the subject, bringing in light plus the play of ground and fore-ground."
“I am predominantly a Landscape painter in oils and acrylics, but enjoy the freedom of mixed media as well. I have recently embraced digital software as another medium or tool and am very excited at the creative possibilities this has opened up."

Artists 303 had a very successful exhibition at the Red Brick Building in Glastonbury in April.
Ian Fenwick entered 3 exciting constructions inspite of having been unwell, and our new member Cath Bloomfield, whose work was exhibited on the stairs, enhanced the show with her collagraphs.
The next exhibition will be the 50th celebration at Ilminster.
