I was a mature student in Graphics at Bournemouth College (now a University) and this design interest has carried over into my painting. Also it has given me an interest in typefaces which occasionally appear in my paintings. I use acrylics as they dry quickly so changes in direction can be spontaneously made and I use glues fillers, muslin, sandpaper and found objects.

I have always been interested in abstract art and this has been defined by the late Robert Hughes, a highly respected Art Critic ; .The currency of Contemporary Art challenges what was before and hints that there is more to come. It should confront prevailing notions. It might also be seen as interesting, exciting, significant and fresh.

I dislike 'cluttered' paintings so over the last couple of years I have given myself Carte Blanche to produce as minimal a painting as I can. Having done this I can now introduce other elements. We will have to see where this takes us.

I have exhibited with Artists 303 for many years and with other groups. Also solo on occasion.
